Having viewed their title expects dashed last weekend at Wigan, Arsene Wenger powered his part with the work of ending the time toughly and securing an automatic Champions League spot. This afternoon's affair was mundane and goalless but at least it went some road to got that aim. Abou Diaby powered a flying survive from Shay Given and Robin Van Persie curled a free-kick inches wide. Arsenal are now 8 points ahead of Tottenham, who have 3 matches left. Wenger had much to mull over on friday night. Manchester City started with two former Gunners in their side. Having fallen away so dramatically at the DW stadium last weekend, there was little but pride and countly certainty on this match for Arsenal. What pressure and invention there was, came from Arsenal. Walcott fired wide and Nasri powered a survive from Shay Given at the near post. Although Rosicky burst through and bundled a shot into the nahds of Given, the visitors were now much more of a threat. However, this afternoon, there was not a goal to be found.
